As 2020 starts to be unwrapped, we have decided to set some roots on the Big Island in Hawaii. This is the island where we started our 2 years of worldwide service while being resident managers of the quaint Kona Tiki Hotel. We felt called to return here a couple of months ago to delve deeper into our selves and our mission while NOT managing a hotel, a task that required significant time EVERY day for 6 months. So, here we are, nestled on a sacred 2.5 acre farm with countless fruit trees, … [Read more...]

Living in Your Authenticity
I set an intention everyday, what I want to inspire, attract & manifest in my day. Today is "authenticity" so I ask myself what is authenticity? My authenticity is different than anyone else’s, as is yours. I believe authenticity is an ability to be true to one’s self & your highest callings. This can be ever evolving & changing depending on where we are called to at different times of our lives. How can we honor & express our genuine heartfelt desires & gifts in our own … [Read more...]
Making a Difference in Stillness and Silence
You know the ageless question, "If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is there, does it make any noise?" Well, here's my somewhat, but not really, related question, "If we sit in complete stillness, solitude, and quiet for one minute, then an hour, then a full day, and then an entire week, will we make a difference?" Before I answer these questions from my perspective, please allow me a few sentences to explain why I am asking it. Many of my previous articles reference my wife's and … [Read more...]
Simplified Living – It’s Not That Simple
It's been 18 months since we sold nearly everything in an effort to lead a more simple life, to free up our financial resources, and to allow us to provide service wherever we feel called. During those 18 months, we have been to Costa Rica twice, Panama, Nicaragua, multiple Hawaiian islands on two different trips, and spent two summers on a gorgeous Maine island, where we rent a small studio apartment with a deck that provides wonderful sunset views over the mainland. We feel incredibly blessed … [Read more...]
Letting Go and Creating a Life to Live For
My alarm awakened me at 3:24 a.m.. Weighted with deep weariness, I clung to the covers not believing I could lift myself from this dark exhaustion of my body and mind. Then I remembered we were flying from Maine to Costa Rica in a few short hours. This propelled me into action to ready myself, although my emotions were still heavily clinging to all we are letting go of: close proximity to our children, friends, clients, homes, 8 pets, my physical therapy practice, financial security, most of our … [Read more...]
I Am Not. I Am Me.
I am not my clothes I am not my job title I am not your opinion of me I am not my car or my house I am not how much I get done I am not my face or my hair I am me standing here naked trembling & transparent in all my truths & vulnerabilities, and in all my hopes and dreams I invite you to stand beside me, and walk this path of trusting your instincts owning your mistakes daring to take risks truly following your heart walking your talk helping strangers just because it … [Read more...]
Inspired by You
Inspired by You by Donna Maria Bordeaux I smile at my eyes , for they see the bountiful beauty surrounding me & your smile. I smile at my skin for it is blissed with the sensuous caresses from the sun, the wind, the waves and your touch. I smile at my ears for they hear the voices of nature calling me home; the music that stirs and ignites me, body and soul, and your voice of love that nurtures and heals me. I smile at my mind for it is dedicated to seeking knowledge & deeper … [Read more...]
My Struggle: To Be or Not To Be
This is an article that I wrote, and was published in the Inner Tapestry, a New England based, holistic magazine, about three years ago. This topic is still something I have to work on every day! My Struggle: To Be or Not to Be Paul W. Knoll, M.A. As I travel back to Maine after some college visits with my senior daughter, I find myself asking these questions during some writing time: How do I want my life to feel as each day unfolds? How do I want my life to be reflected back to … [Read more...]
